When You enroll as a student for Drum Lessons at Zac Treby School of Drums, this is what you can expect.  Our Song-Machine-Approach Methods are a series of our Song Collections, both studio and live versions, created exclusively for Zac Treby School of Drums students.  Amazing tools to increase students’ understanding, document students’ progress, and ensure a well-rounded approach to students’ education. Each Song has Drum-less Tracks and Notation Transcriptions, which each cover more challenging material than the last.

Our Method Books, PDF’s and Drum-less tracks are the roadmaps for our educational approach. Zac Treby School of Drums is unique, because of Five important elements: Stage Performance, Studio Recording, our Song-Machine Approach, Song Collection Programs and Notation approach. In addition, our books outline musical concepts and techniques, and then connect them to classic songs for students to learn and play. This is our Song-Machine approach. Students will also find real tips on rehearsing and performing with a band for real live gig experience. These are our Pro Tips that are demonstrated in drum lessons.

Here’s how we do it!

Song-Machine-Approach:  Our Song-Machine-Approach places students in a certain class of drumming according to their abilities and skill sets. 

Learn drums through the music you love! We break down songs into digestible grooves, fills, and patterns, so you build muscle memory and develop a deep musical instinct.

Here is what we offer inside our Song-Machine-Approach:

  • Song Collection Programs: Each student has the chance to choose programs that contain songs by artists both classic and modern, and learn how to play those songs with the materials inside our Song-Machine-Approach.
  • Drum-less Tracks: In our drum lessons, we work on songs that have been chosen for students, which provide them with four mp3 versions of a song – 1. A Studio Version – 2. A Metronome Version (No Drums) – 3. A Drum-less Track Version (No Metronome) – 4. A Drums Only Version (No Music).
  • Musical Notation Transcriptions: Our Musical Notation Transcripts of these songs assist the student in tackling difficult section, and further provide techniques that are built into the songs that they work on.
  • The Recording Experience Showcase: With our Recording Experience, students have the opportunity to perform via Audio and video, their material in a real live studio for 1 hour, recording their songs in real time.  The top students will also have the opportunity to be showcased and featured on Zac Treby School of Drums Website and social Platforms.  

Students during the showcase will have access to:

1. Control Room

  • Contains the mixing console, computers, and monitors for recording and editing audio.
  • Sound engineers and producers work here to shape the final sound.

2. Live Room / Tracking Room

  • Drum Kit, A space where musicians, vocalists, or other sound sources are recorded.
  • Designed with acoustic treatment to enhance sound quality.

3. Isolation Booths

  • Small, soundproofed rooms for recording vocals or individual instruments without interference.

4. Equipment & Software

  • Microphones: Capture sound from instruments or voices.
  • Audio Interfaces: Convert analog sound into digital signals.
  • Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs): Software like Pro Tools, Logic Pro, or Ableton for recording and editing.
  • Studio Monitors: Speakers designed for accurate sound playback.
